Did You Just Buy a Brand-New Car? Follow These Tips to Protect It

After years of saving up, you finally bought a brand-new car, and you’re nothing but excited to get it on the road. But with such a huge investment, you need to make sure that your new car isn’t only ready for the road, but it’s also protected from it.

From investing in a top quality car seat protector to driving your car properly, here are some of the things that you can do to make sure that your brand-new car stays that way for as long as possible:

Protect your car’s exterior

You love how your brand-new car shines from the outside, especially with its fresh paint and beautiful fixtures. But once you get it out on the road, you’ll be exposing it to the elements—dust, dirt, debris and other cars. And since you can’t control everything that your car is exposed to, the next best thing that you can do is make sure that you’re protecting its exterior.

One good way to do this is by applying a Paint Protection Film (PPF) that will help protect the car against scratches and chips. Now if you have the extra budget, a ceramic coating would also be a great idea since it repels dirt, water and chemicals, so your car preserves its paint for a longer time.

You should also invest in a car door protector that will help shield your door from those careless drivers who suddenly swing their doors in tight parking spaces. A car cover is also essential, especially if you’re parking your car outdoors for a long period of time.

Take care of your car’s interior

While only your car’s exterior will be exposed to the elements, your car’s interior will be exposed to passengers. Whether you’ll be driving alone or with your entire family, you need to make sure that your car’s interior is just as protected as its exterior. Having rubber floor mats should be non-negotiable since it catches all the spills, dirt and dust that you and your passengers bring from the outside. This makes cleaning your carpet a lot easier and protecting it from early wear and tear.

Of course, you can’t just protect your floors. You also need to do the same with your chairs. Gladly, there are now many car seat covers that get the job done while also improving your car’s aesthetic. If you don’t like the colour of your seats, investing in good quality seat covers will solve that problem.

Practice good car owner habits

Owning a car is a huge responsibility, especially when it comes to maintaining it. It’s important to practice good driving habits that will allow you to enjoy your ride for a longer time. For starters, you need to follow a consistent cleaning routine where you wash your car from the inside out to get rid of any dirt and grime. If you can, prevent automated car washes since they can be too harsh on the paint. Hand wash your car if possible and choose a mild detergent to avoid any damages to your car.

You should also make it a habit to throw away any trash inside your car and remove things that you don’t need inside it. You can keep a vacuum in your trunk so you can clean your interiors whenever you need to.

While you can take care of the exterior and interior of your car, you should leave the maintenance to the experts. Check your manufacturer’s recommendations and make sure that you follow the schedule promptly, especially with fluid checks and oil changes. And when you notice anything unusual in your car, take it to a mechanic right away so that it can be diagnosed and fixed before things get worse and you put yourself at risk for problems on the road.

Of course, nothing beats being cautious when you’re driving. Follow proper speed limits, be mindful while you’re on the road and always make sure that you are completely able before you take that driver seat. If you’re too tired, sleepy or even intoxicated, never drive, or you could risk an accident that would not only harm you and your car but potentially other pedestrians.
